Kochi Konther Asar’s Observance for World Children’s Day 2025

Dhaka, October 5, 2025 — On the occasion of World Children’s Day 2025, Kochi Konther Asar, a prominent child rights organization under the World Children Organization, observed the day through a series of activities and public statements promoting children’s rights, safety, growth, and participation. Events were held both at the national level and through affiliated networks across the country.

A key part of the observance included a policy-focused roundtable held on October 4, 2025, at the organization’s headquarters in Dhaka. The session was presided over by Chairman Hemayet Hossain and moderated by Organizing Secretary Ruhaiyad Tanvir Faisal.

Key Proposals Presented

1. Establish a Ministry for Children’s Affairs by separating the current division from the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs.
2. Reinstate the “Shishu Academy” Talent Award Program to honor children’s achievements in arts and education.
3. Recognize and Protect Children’s Rights in Labor, Migration, and Street Situations through legal and programmatic reform.
4. Formulate and Implement a National Child Rights Policy.
5. Recognize Marginalized Children (e.g., domestic workers, street children, displaced communities, indigenous children, etc.) as “Specially Vulnerable Children”, with focused protection and inclusion strategies.
6. Incorporate Child-Safe Urban Planning into Dhaka’s and other cities’ master plans—ensuring safe playgrounds, child zones, and inclusive infrastructure.

Speakers emphasized that the protection of children’s rights is not merely a social demand, but a strategic development priority. They called on the government and relevant authorities to act urgently and decisively in safeguarding the future of the nation’s children.
